Work Areas & Stowage

Galley.  The galley is at the foot of the companionway stairs on the starboard side opposite the chart table.  There are manual and pressure water taps above a single stainless sink, an ice box with 4” foam insulation and two burner stainless kerosene stove with oven.  Ample stowage in numerous lockers.  Counter tops are laminex.

Chart Table.  A good sized chart table is opposite the galley and can be utilized by the cook as an extra bench top when preparing meals.  A hinged lifting lid allows easy access to the stowage area below.  Below the chart table are four self-latching voluminous drawers.

Roomy Hanging Lockers

Head.  There is a single head cabin aft of the forward v berths to port with a door to give privacy.  An opening aluminium hatch above allows for good ventilation.  Toilet – manual, and a spare electric macerator.  A sink and pressure water system is also installed, plus lockers for stowage. 

The water tap is also a flexible shower head with a hose that stows out of site below the sink.  No shower or electric hot water (which meant the best time for sailing was summer!).

Stowage: Up forward, opposite the head on the starboard side, are three lockers plus two hanging lockers allowing separation of wet and dry clothes.  Numerous lockers in saloon and four opening drawers below chart table. 

The starboard quarter is a stowage area for sails, lines, etc as well as providing excellent access to engine room.

Forward V Berth

Layout was spacious while also allowing for privacy.  She easily catered for our 2+2 family and on one occasion we had another adult couple with us for a couple of weeks.  They survived; the littlies did too!

We installed a removable headliner of laminated ply and floorings of solid 8mm iroko over ply.  To give a light and airy atmosphere below decks, furniture was made from white laminate over ply with teak and iroko trim.  Layout is standard, as per the plan.



Quarter Berth

 Forward Stateroom.  Starting forward there is a twin v-berth up forward with stowage under.  Ventilation is provided through an opening aluminium hatch above the berths.  Cushions: 6” cushions on forward and quarter berths.  There are good sized stowage areas under the v berth and lockers forward of the bunk and on the sides. 

Port Quarter.  There is a large quarter berth on port side behind chart table, very comfortable for a single adult or for two young children.  Cushions are 6” foam.



Saloon Port Side Dinette

 Saloon. Well lit with overhead hatch and four windows on sides of coach house.  I put in seaworthy windows of 0.5 inch acrylic of moderate size bolted to coach house. 

The dining table sits four comfortably and 2-3 can be seated on the portside berth.  The table can be lowered to convert the dinette to a double bunk. 



Saloon - Starboard Settee & Berth

Comfortable 4” foam cushions on bunks plus 4” foam backrests.   Cushion covers were custom made in quality furnishing fabrics (if not especially nautical in pattern) & sturdy canvas under. 

There are numerous lockers behind the settee backrests and above. 

Below the dinette and starboard berth are fuel tanks and the batteries, as well as an additional stowage area
